📱 Submitting Smartphone Photos? Read This First!

In an effort to make banner design more fun and accessible, we encourage participants to submit photos taken with high-resolution smartphones.

As photographer Chase Jarvis famously said, “The best camera is the one you have with you.”
And with today’s advanced smartphone technology, that couldn’t be more true!

Smartphone Photo Submission Tips

  • Camera Specs
Use a smartphone with at least a 14MP sensor and minimum resolution of 1920x1080 at 440ppi. (See adjacent list for recommended devices.)

  • Camera Settings
Set your camera to the highest resolution and choose the “Most Compatible” format instead of “High Efficiency” to avoid image compression. 👉 Need help? Watch the tutorial video below.

  • Image Quality
Use a tripod or phone stand to avoid blur and ensure proper exposure.
Avoid using digital zoom—this reduces image quality by “crushing” pixels.

  • Orientation
Always shoot in portrait (vertical) orientation. Horizontal images won’t be accepted.

  • Post-Processing
Use editing apps to enhance your images:

    • Snapseed (Free)

    • VSCO (Paid)

    • Remini (Paid)

  • Submitting Your Image
When you’re ready to upload, make sure to download the highest resolution version of your photo from your device. 👉 Watch the video below for instructions.
